THE CONFIDENCE WE HAVE IN APPROACHING GOD
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5:14-15 NIV
Confidence can be defined as the feeling or belief that you can do something, or something is good or true, or the belief we have that someone has the ability to do something.
The confidence we have in approaching God is that whatever we ask him according to his WILL he hears us and as a result we have whatever we ask of him. WILL in this context means the legal document God has prepared about you stating your spiritual and physical possessions. Do you ask from God according to his will or your will? How do we know the will of God for our lives?
Our parents may have good plans for us but until we get closer to them, we wouldn't know. Same applies to our relationship with God. Until we get closer to him we wouldn't know his will for us and we will end up asking from him not according to his will. Everyday should serve as a moment to move a step closer to God for him to reveal his will to us. The will of God is what he has planned, developed and kept for us.
We can now conclude that we will not receive from God anything we ask from God outside his will. May we ask from the Lord according to his will that we will have whatever we ask of him. Be blessed.
