PUT YOUR GIFT TO WORK

"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you". 1 Timothy 4:13-14 EXPOSITION Everyone has some great deposit of gift from the Lord in them. Sadly, few of us are aware of this and even those who are aware, rarely put their gift into use. One thing we should realise is that, God gives us his gifts to work with them but not to leave them idle. Mineral deposits like gold is a gift from God but until it's mined, refined and processed into specific products or items, they serve no human needs. God has placed in us abundance of spiritual gifts, the onus is now on us to work with them for the benefit of ourselves and the church. YOU ARE A SLAVE BUT TO WHO/WHAT?

"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?". Romans 6:16 NIV EXPOSITION The relationship between a master and a slave is that the master instructs the slave and the slave has an obligation to obey such instructions. No matter your status in life, you are a slave. One is a slave to what they obey, respect or hold allegiance to. Now the question is, as a slave who is your master? Is it righteousness that leads to eternal life or sin that leads to eternal destruction? A critical examination of the above question will let you know where you are heading to. Be Led By The Holy Spirit

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other". Galatians 5:24-26 NIV EXPOSITION Those who are in Christ have clothed themselves with Him. The world and colleague Christians expect Christ like character in them and that can only be possible when we are led by the Spirit of the most high. When we allow our actions to be dictated by the Holy Spirit we will not live to please the flesh for the Spirit of God will not create in us desires which are contrary to God's expected way of life for us. The Spirit only communicates to us what he receives from the father. THE GREAT LOVE OF GOD

"If you, Lord , kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Israel, put your hope in the Lord , for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins". Psalm 130:3-4, 7-8 EXPOSITION The love of God is so great that He keeps no records of our sins. There wouldn't be enough space to record my sins should God open a book for that purpose for I'm a sinner by nature and actions. In God, there is forgiveness of our sins through the unfailing love He demonstrated by giving His only begotten son as a ransom for our sins. The Lord redeems us from our sins when we acknowledge them and repent. But does the love of God give us the ticket to sin? LEARNING THE SECRET OF SAILING THROUGH EVERY SITUATION

Scriptures: "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength". Philippians 4:12-13 EXPOSITION The secret to sailing through every situation with great joy and peace is Christ. If you are aware that in Christ you have been blessed with all the heavenly blessings required for your physical and spiritual survival, you will always learn to draw your strength from him in every situation. Apostle Paul learned to live above his situation because his live hinged on Jesus (the gospel). To some when they have plenty then the Lord is good. The Lord is bad, wicked, uncaring, heartless when situations do not work out according to plan, when they fall sick or run out of basic needs in life. HOW ARE YOU KNOWN?

Scriptures: "You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them". 2 Timothy 3:10-11 EXPOSITION Apostle Paul was known in his ministry for his teaching, way of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, and sufferings. Fellow believer, if you stood before God today how would he identify you? Or even in the church how are you known? Are you known as the one who has the work of God at heart or you are only in the church to please members, pastors, leaders, or friends? Even Jesus once asked his disciples, "Who do people say I am?", Mark 8:37. Think about it. How we are known in the church and by God is very important in our Christian walk. THE LORD IS OUR REFUGE

"But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord ; in you I take refuge—do not give me over to death. Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety".Psalm 141:8-10 EXPOSITION Refuge can be defined as the state of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or difficulty or a place or situation providing safety or shelter. Now the Lord being our refuge means in him we are safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, difficulty and  every bad situation. God is so much concerned about your security and when you fix your eyes on him, making him the superior of your life, the decision maker and the director of your path, you will not strike your foot against the stone. LET'S PRAY MORE EARNESTLY

And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:44. We are imitaters of Christ. If Christ prayed when he was in anguish then we must do same in times of tribulations and persecutions. The Bible says He PRAYED MORE EARNESTLY. To act with earnest means to be sincere, serious, purposeful, and determined. Please let's pray with all seriousness, aggression, and strength in times like this. Jesus could have prayed with the disciples but he decided to pray alone. It tells me that we should not wait till there are church programs before we pray. There is the need to allocate time to pray privately like never before especially in a time where COVID 19 is making it impossible for the church to meet. Let's pray for the Lord to cause COVID 19 to stop spreading. We pray that no soul should be lost to COVID 19 again. May the Lord miraculously provide preventive medications to curtail this deadly disease. May we have a good ...

TURN TO GOD IN YOUR AFFLICTION

Beware of turning to evil, which you seem to prefer to affliction. Job 36:21 EXPOSITION We have come to a point in time where a certain school of thought believes that the righteous should not suffer affliction. With this in mind, lots of Christians have no patience to wait upon the Lord when things do not go as expected. We want a quick fix. Let's not forget that the Bible says "for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again..." Yes, there is going to be a time in life the righteous shall fall. On this journey of living for Christ, let's not be quick to turn to evil in difficult times. When the odds are against us, let's remember that "weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. We are living in a world that all manner of solutions are being offered to our problems and if one does not draw closer to God, it will be difficult distinguishing between godly and ungodly solutions. DON'T BE A SPECTATOR, RENDER A SERVICE

My former Assembly (C. O. P-Emmanuel Assembly, Suhum) have a slogan that goes "Emmanuel! Get Involved!" The church was communicating to the members to be part of everything that the church does. Thus, each person has a role to play to make the church the best place for the saints. I live this slogan in my education, employment, and in the church and it has brought me no regret. How can one get involved in something? Passion drives involvement. You have got not to look at what someone is doing or not doing before you get involved. Get involved with the ultimate aim that whatever contributions you render is onto the Lord. With this in mind you wont give room for idleness. To talk about the church as an institution, let's consider it as the symbol of heaven on earth, the kingdom of God on earth where the Kings, Queens and The Royals of God gather. DO YOU KNOW GOD?

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1:15-16 NIV Knowing God is not a matter of telling people how you love him but it's about how your actions communicate to the world about God. Just as faith without works is dead, so also claiming to know God but living your life otherwise is self deception that leads to nothing but death. Such people are unfit for doing anything good. Some are in the house of God but their minds and conscience are heavily corrupted. They deny God by their actions. The world cannot see God through them. May the Lord have mercy. THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE SPREAD OF THE WORD

We are living in a generation where God has made it easy to spread his word across the world. Technology has come to aid the spread of the gospel. I have had an engagement with people who think social media platforms are evil and are inspired by the devil to take captive many souls. Personally, I do not think so. Creativity and innovation come from God. The devil doesn't create or innovate but he destroys what has been created by God. Do you know the devil quoted the bible wrongly to tempt Jesus? I mean whatever good thing God has made, the devil finds one way or the other to make it look bad. He did it to the word of God against Jesus and to man against God so it should not be a surprise if the devil tries to make social media look unattractive to Christians.  With the aid of social media today, it doesn't cost as much as it cost the early Apostles to spread the word. LOVE COVERS OVER A MULTITUDE OF SINS

1 Peter 4:8 says, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins".  Inferring from this scripture, one can argue that hatred exposes man to a multitude of sin which leads to the destruction of the soul. The simple way to fulfill the entire law of God is seen in Galatians 5:14, "For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself." You won't think evil for the one you love. Rather, you would want them to excel in whatever they do so long as it pleases God. Romans 13:8 says "Therefore let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law."  Keep loving, no hatred, if whoever loves one another fulfills the entire law then whoever hates breaks the entire law. UNLEASH MISSILES IN YOUR SILENCE

In the silence of our hearts, we speak thunder and strike the enemy with lightening for the prayer of the righteous man is very effective and alive. As dedicated Christians, we can pray always all day irrespective of the environment. Whilst selent, meditate on the word, pray in your mind and in your heart. We can do this from our house to the bus stop, the bus stop to the office and during our stay in the office or the various places we find ourselves during the day. When you are in tune with God, he converts your silence prayer and meditation into thunder and lightening that the enemy cannot stand. He builds around you walls of fire that the devil and his team cannot enter your territory. Make this a part of your prayer life. May the Lord answer our prayers when we call on him.

EXAMINE YOURSELF TO SEE WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE FAITH

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ is in you, unless, of course you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5. EXPOSITION I once read a book titled "The unexamined life is not worth living." There must be a standard with which every rational being should examine their lives. The stardard with which the Christian must examine his life is the Gospel. Our walk with Jesus is a daily activity. This means that we have an obligation to acknowledge Christ our saviour in our decisions no matter the form or the size they may take. Living each day to the glory of God is the surest way to inform us that we are really in the faith. When we aspire to live this way then we can be sure Christ is indeed in us who is our hope of glory. 2 Corinthians 13:8 says, 'For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.' BE AHEAD OF THE DEVIL BUT NOT JESUS

Be ahead of the devil but not Jesus. The devil will mislead you when he is ahead of you but Jesus will guide you to a successful destination. The devil wants to see you fall but Jesus' interest in you is to lift you up when you fall, to carry your load when your neck is breaking, to wash your sins with his holy blood, to purchase you from death to eternal life and above all to make you joint heir in the kingdom of God. Is that not wonderful?  May you be led by Jesus now and forever. God Bless you

IMPART THE CHURCH

"I long to see you so that I can impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong. That is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith." Romans 1:11-12.  EXPOSITION As Paul was preparing to meet the church in Rome, one of his priorities was to impart to them some spiritual gift to make the church strong. Strength breeds courage and confidence. Our faith in the Lord will never be relinquished if we are courageous and have confidence in him.  We can attain this level when we fully operate in the Holy Spirit. Which of the gifts of the Holy Spirit do you operate in? Are you ready to impart the church with the gift? Interestingly, many Christians do not know their spiritual gift. I pray that we become alive in the spirit to enable us impart our spiritual gift to the church so that we shall be mutually encouraged by each other's faith as we possess the nations. MY DESIRE

If I have a day more to live, may I live to please the Lord, and may I grow in wisdom and in the Holy Ghost, If I have the voice to sing, may I sing psalms and hymns to Your glory, If I have the mouth to speak, may I speak Your goodness, mercies and the power of your resurrection, If I have the mind to think, may I think about how great You are, If I have anything to seek, may I seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness first, If I have anywhere to dwell, may I dwell in the Shelter of the Most High, If I have any place to rest, may I rest in the shadow of the Almighty If I have the eyes to see, may I see the manifestation of your promises in my life.
