THE QUALITY OF OUR DEEDS WILL BE TESTED WITH FIRE

12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is because the day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 1 Cor 3:12-14.

Jesus Christ is the solid foundation on which we are building as Christians. You may have a solid foundation, but if you decide to build on it with inferior materials, the building will not stand the test of time. The wind will blow and it will be swept away, a little electrical fault will trigger fire in the house. Yes, the structure will be destroyed but the foundation will remain the same.

As Christians having Christ in us, if we decide to live anyhow, we shall be destroyed on the day of judgement. That will not mean we did not receive Christ rather we failed to build on him with the right materials (deeds).

In the preamble of this chapter, Paul said, he could not address the church as people who lived by the Spirit but as those who were still worldly. They were acting as mere humans for they were jealous, envious, lustful, quarrelsome, etc, instead of they living as spiritual beings.

Now the question is, after receiving Christ the solid foundation, are you still living to please the flesh? What materials are you using to build on the foundation? How will God rate you in his assessment book?

Brethren, Christianity is not a joke. One day Christ will appear and he will test our deeds with fire. It's only those whose deeds will survive the test will see the kingdom of God. Just as the manufacturer has a standard against which he test his products and select those which meet the standard for sale, so God through Christ will test our deeds against his word and those who live to please the spirit will make it into his Kingdom.

"Dont you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives among you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for God's temple is sacred, and you together are that temple"
