TRUST NONE

4 Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer. 5 Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning. Jeremiah 9:4-5. 

We are being urged today not to trust our friends and even our families for everyone of them is a deceiver.

Great men have fallen whereas many people are disappointed because they were betrayed by their confidants. Lots of people we call friends are actually parasites who are around us to suck our blood. They fail to tell you when you are wrong. They will malign you to others just to look good in their eyes. The enemy we sometimes run from resides in our cherished friends and families.

Out of jealously, covetousness, discontentment and fear, Cain killed Abel, Joseph was sidelined by his brothers, Jacob deceived Esau for his birth right, David slept with Uriah's wife and killed Uriah thereafter, Absalom discredited David to impose himself as a king, Judas betrayed Jesus and Peter denied Jesus.

These people were too close to their victims yet they did the unthinkable.

Your friends' tongue could be a deadly arrow, it speaks deceitfully. They would speak cordially to you but in their hearts, they set traps for you. Beware of them!
